قرأت هذا الكتاب عدة مرات على أوقات متفرقة أولها كان في العاشرة من عمري هذا الكتاب ليس عملا أدبيا بقدر ما هو توثيق لأحداثٍ يجهلها الكثيرون .. رحلةٌ ليس مثلها رحلة كم أتمنى لو أن الحياة تتيح لي عودةً بالزمن الى وقت مثل هذا لأرتحل بين البلاد و الصحاري هكذا!رحم الله هولمبو :))

من افضل ما قرات في أدب الرحلات فهو متشعب كما أن الرحلة فيه مميزة كونها تمت بالسيارة في منطقة حروب و في الصحراء

تعيش فى عالم الثلاثينات من قرن الفائت فى ليبيا من غربه الى شرقة انتاء حقبة استعمار الايطالى فى ليبيا وكان هذا الكاتب بمعنى الكلمة حيت نقله جميع الارث التقافى واجتماعى وجغرافى وسياسى الموجود فى تلك الفترة فى ليبيا بكل حيادية مع المواقف الانسانية الذى مره بيها شناعة وحقارة الاستعمار الايطالى فى ليبيا من قتل وتشريد الشعب اليبيى وتجويع الشعب اليبى تعيشو فى رحلة واقعه انت لست موجود فية وكان بارعا فى ذالك وكذالك المترجم الليبى محمد بشير الفرجانى الذى ترجمة هذا الكتاب من انجليزية الى عربية بكل صدق

كتاب يستحق القراءة مذكرات كنود عن رحلته عبر شمال إفريقيا قاصداً الأرض المقدسة مكة لأداء الحج بسيارته الخاصة في زمن الانحطاط وبدايات الهزيمة للمسلمين عام 1930 كان شمال إفريقيا يرزح تحت أثون الاستخراب الأوروبي فسرد كنود هولمبو تاريخ تلك الفترة بأسلوب روائي جميل يجعلك تحيا معه وتتنقل معه في رحلته وتتخيل مدى صعوبتها ومشقتها كما تستطيع تكوين رؤيا وصورة مختلفة عن التاريخ الليبي غير تلك الموجودة في كتب التاريخ التقليدية. كتب هولمبو هذه الأسطر بروحه لا بقلمه ^^
